Post-Doctoral Opportunity in Molecular Plant Pathology

24 February 2017 12:18

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Level 1) at University College Dublin within the UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science.

This is a temporary, 4-year post in molecular plant pathology. The post-doctoral researcher will investigate the potential of endophytes from wild crop relatives to control diseases of wheat. They will isolate and characterise the endophytes using both microbiology and molecular techniques. They will determine their potential to control root, foliar and head diseases of wheat using glasshouse studies and subsequent field studies. They will be assisted by a research scientist. They will also determine the mode of action of endophytes using a combination of cell and molecular techniques.

This project is part of the larger CONSUS project, a € 17.6m research programme, co-funded by Science Foundation Ireland and Origin Enterprises plc through the SFI Strategic Partnership Programme.

Applications should be made through the UCD HR Vacancies application system: please use reference 009096 when searching by "Reference Number".

Completed applications must be submitted through the online system before 17:00 (Irish Time) on Sunday, 05 March 2017.
